The Journey of Faith: A story of Obedience and inspiration
SJMTC was founded to honor the extraordinary legacy of Reverend Samdai Jhury, a trailblazer for women in ministry and a pioneering figure in the Church of God in Trinidad and Tobago.
Born and raised in a Hindu family, Samdai Jhury’s journey to Christ was nothing short of miraculous. At the age of 18, through divine intervention, she encountered Jesus and devoted her life to Him. With only a fifth-grade education, she pursued her calling, attending Bible school and defying all odds to graduate as valedictorian of her class.
As a single woman with little formal training but overflowing with faith, power, and anointing, she began a small Sunday school in an open-air savannah in Trinidad. What started as a humble gathering of children soon grew into a thriving church as adults, too, were drawn to the Word she preached. Without a ministry team, resources, or institutional support, she built what most would require a staff of a hundred to accomplish.
Her unwavering dedication to the gospel raised up spiritual sons and daughters who carried on her mission, including Bishop Marlo Ramdial, the father of our founder, Pastor Sharo Ramkhelawan, senior pastor of Hope NYC Church.
SJMTC stands as a testament to her legacy—a place where passionate, Spirit-filled leaders are equipped to preach the gospel with boldness, just as she did. Our mission is to continue her work by training men and women who are called to ministry, empowering them with theological depth, practical wisdom, and the fire of the Holy Spirit.
Her story proves that God will call His anointed ones from anywhere . At SJMTC, we exist to equip and mobilize those who are ready to answer that call.
